Introduction
Department of Biochemistry in Dhaka Community Medical College was established in the year of 2008. Till then the Departmental Professionals are performing their duties with complete conscience and dignity. Science of Biochemistry helps to understand the maintenance of health and effective treatment of diseases.
The department is thus organized to teach students about basic knowledge on life process depending upon chemical principles, performing and interpreting biochemical laboratory tests and procedures and requisite knowledge for higher studies and research. The teaching methodology involves theoretical lectures, tutorials and practical demonstrations.
Our department is located in the ground floor of the college building. It comprises of chamber of professors, laboratory and tutorial room. The tutorial room is located in the 1st floor.
Our laboratory is equipped by almost all required laboratory equipments in sufficient amount e.g. lab wares, colorimeter, incubator, chemical reagents etc.
Activities
Total Student included under the academic activity:
Two MBBS batches (1st year and 2nd year) – 100 + 100 =200
Two BDS batches (1st year and 2nd year) – 30 + 30 =60
The Department teaching activities are as follows:
- Lecture Class – MBBS: Weekly there are 3 lecture classes for each year
BDS: Weekly there are 2 lecture classes for each year
(Taken by Professors and assistant Professor).
- Daily tutorial – MBBS: Weekly there are 6 tutorial classes for each year
BDS: Weekly there are 2 tutorial classes for each year
(Taken by lecturers and supervised by Professors and Assistant Professor).
- Practical Class – There are 4 practical classes in a week for each year (Taken by our lab technician and supervised by lecturers).
